Position Summary The Estimator plays a key role in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for heavy civil, earthwork, and underground utility projects. This position requires a strong understanding of construction means and methods, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and estimating teams. Key Responsibilities Champion Safety as the highest priority in all estimating and project planning activities. Review and analyze plans, specifications, and engineering documents to determine scope, materials, and methods. Perform detailed quantity take-offs using computer-aided tools, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Evaluate site conditions , constructability, and equipment utilization to optimize cost and efficiency. Prepare production-based cost estimates and assist in developing construction schedules. Support the preparation of bid documents, proposals, and prequalification packages . Attend pre-bid site visits and perform site investigations as needed. Participate in the transition process for awarded projects, ensuring smooth handoff to Operations. Contribute to pursuit and proposal strategy for regional and national opportunities. Collaborate in a team-based environment , maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and partners. Preferred Qualifications 37 years of experience in heavy civil, highway, earthwork, or underground wet utilities construction . Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering , Construction Management , or related discipline (or equivalent experience). Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid , Agtek , Bluebeam , and Microsoft Excel/Word . Familiarity with Primavera (P6) scheduling software preferred. Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality estimates. Positive attitude with excellent communication and interpersonal skills . Self-motivated team player with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a deadline-driven environment. Must possess a valid Drivers License and be willing to travel for pre-bid site visits when required. Compensation
