Matrix is seeking a NJ/NY Engineering Market Lead to drive business development and project execution in central and northern New Jersey and New York. This is a high-impact, entrepreneurial role for a seasoned civil, structural and/or geotechnical engineering professional who thrives on building client relationships, leading technical delivery, and cultivating teams. Market Leadership & Business Development Lead strategic growth in NJ and NY by identifying opportunities and cultivating relationships with public agencies, municipalities, developers, and consultants Drive proposal development and pursuit strategy for infrastructure, land development, and municipal projects Represent Matrix at industry events and client meetings across NJ and NY metro Champion a client-first mindset, ensuring long-term partnerships and repeat business Entrepreneurial Spirit & Team Building Bring an entrepreneurial approach to expanding services and market share Build and inspire high-performing teams through mentorship, collaboration, and shared purpose Foster a culture of employee development, ownership, and innovation Project Leadership & Technical Delivery Serve as Project Manager for civil engineering projects you help bring in Oversee design, permitting, and construction phases with a focus on quality and client satisfaction Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Matrix's service lines Technical Excellence & Mentorship Act as a technical leader in civil/site engineering, stormwater, grading, and utility design Guide junior staff and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master's a plus) Professional Engineer (PE) license required 15+ years of experience in civil/site engineering and project management Proven track record as a seller-doer with strong client relationships in NJ and/or NY (NYC agency experience and relationships a plus, as well as regional and national client base) Deep understanding of state, municipal, and county regulations Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, stormwater modeling, and permitting Familiarity with NJ and/or NY public bidding and procurement processes Ability to lead multi-million dollar pursuits and manage complex projects Passion for sustainability, resilience, and community impact Natural team builder and relationship cultivatorwith clients and colleagues alike All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.
