Gator Chrysler Dodge Jeep
Job Summary:
The Automotive Painter at Gator Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is responsible for restoring vehicle finishes to manufacturer standards using AkzoNobel Sikkens paint systems. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, precision in color matching, and a commitment to producing high-quality refinish work that upholds the reputation of the Gator Automotive Group.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare vehicle panels and surfaces for painting by sanding, masking, cleaning, and priming to manufacturer and Sikkens specifications.
Mix, match, and adjust paint colors using AkzoNobel Sikkens color tools and software to ensure accurate OEM color matches.
Apply primer, basecoat, and clearcoat in accordance with AkzoNobel Sikkens procedures and dealership quality standards.
Inspect painted surfaces for defects such as runs, sags, or color mismatches and perform necessary corrections, buffing, or polishing.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including proper setup and care of paint booth, prep station, and mixing room.
Comply with all safety, environmental, and OSHA/Hazmat regulations related to paint materials and waste disposal.
Work collaboratively with body technicians, estimators, and management to meet production schedules and deliver vehicles on time.
Document paint usage and materials for repair orders accurately.
Participate in ongoing training on Sikkens paint systems, OEM refinishing standards, and new product technology.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (vocational or technical school training preferred).
Minimum 2 years of professional automotive painting experience (dealership or collision center preferred).
Hands-on experience with AkzoNobel Sikkens paint systems required.
Proficiency in modern paint booth and spray gun operation.
Strong attention to detail, color accuracy, and finish quality.
Ability to perform all phases of refinishing, from prep to finish.
Must maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Preferred Skills and Certifications:
I-CAR Refinish Technician or ASE B2/B5 Certification (preferred).
Familiarity with Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram OEM repair and refinishing procedures.
Experience with both waterborne and solvent-based Sikkens systems.
Ability to multitask in a high-volume, team-oriented dealership environment.
