MISSION : The mission of the Lead Doctor is to support the medical team in maintaining medical excellence at VEG. OBJECTIVES : 1. Be experts on the VEG way and all VEG Spikes. 2. Coach and develop fellow doctors. 3. Support medical processes and initiatives with the Medical Directors backing. WHAT YOULL DO : Medical Excellence Mentorship : Coach fellow doctors on medical excellence and the VEG Way. Guide doctors in providing all three dimensions of the customer experience. Support doctors growth and development plans. Lead team huddles and motivate the team. Recognize team members small medical and cultural wins. Appreciate consistent performance of VEG spikes. Build rapport with staff to maintain VEG culture. Promote inclusivity and equitable treatment, ensuring a discrimination- and harassment-free environment for all VEGgies and customers. Be proactive in raising awareness and managing unconscious bias. Medical Processes and Initiatives : Implement patient safety initiatives as directed by local leadership. Perform basic Cubex maintenance and cycle counts. Create doctor schedules, manage leave requests, and post schedules at least two months in advance. Assist MD with coverage during callouts or schedule changes. Handle customer complaints related to medical concerns. Medical Strategy : Serve as interim MD when needed, such as during MD leave or hospital openings. Lead monthly doctor meetings and M&M rounds with MD support. Support MD in recruitment marketing, sourcing, candidate experience, and succession planning. Educate staff on the needs of individual rDVMs. Encourage staff to perfect VEG Spikes. If applicable, own the NERD training program, perform all MD duties related to it (goal setting, feedback, coaching, training engagement). Other Duties : This job description is not exhaustive. Duties and responsibilities may change at any time without notice. WHAT YOU NEED : Earned a DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree. 2-3 years of ER experience. Leadership experience preferred but not required. Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, swings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Proven top-tier customer satisfaction and hospital revenue. Training in emergency surgery/endoscopy is preferred but not required. Extensive experience managing critical cases. Willingness to support doctors and perform administrative tasks during off hours. Fulfilled by mentoring and leading a team of emergency veterinarians.
