Facilities/Equipment Maintenance Technician - Administration - General Services - Kanawha Co. role at State of West Virginia. Note: This job opportunity is not in the classified service and is not covered by the WV Division of Personnel merit system. Responsibilities

Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on various types of HVAC, electrical and plumbing equipment and systems. Use test equipment, volt meters, pressure gauges, light meters, and other tools as required. Maintain interior and exterior lighting systems. Perform drywall and masonry repairs. Operate various materials handling equipment. Work from ladders, scaffolding and lifts while making repairs to installed equipment. Requires frequent lifting and moving of materials up to 50 pounds. Must have a valid drivers license. Commercial drivers license (Class A) is desirable. Potential evening shift: initial assignment may be to a second shift (2:00pm to 10:00pm or 12:00am). Installs, operates, maintains and repairs building environmental control equipment (such as chillers, boilers, air handling and ducting systems). Installs, operates, maintains and repairs high/low voltage electrical distribution equipment and emergency generators. Installs, operates, maintains and repairs plumbing and piping systems, rest room/kitchen equipment. Operates and maintains interior and exterior lighting systems and electrical circuits. Performs preventive maintenance on heating and cooling equipment. Replaces motors, belts, seals, fuses, and other components as needed. Records data such as temperature and fuel consumption; requests fuel in advance; may use computer data. Practices safety standards and uses safety equipment on the job and in the shop. Uses predictive maintenance equipment and maintains time and materials records. Uses computerized work stations to monitor heating and cooling systems and to take corrective action when needed. Reads meters and gauges to verify operating conditions; orders parts as needed. May participate in snow removal and grounds maintenance as assigned. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning equipment. Knowledge of plumbing, carpenter, electrician, drywall and finishing trades. Ability to use micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and various diagnostic tools. Knowledge of building equipment operation and repair procedures; knowledge of HVAC systems. Ability to paint and do drywall; follow oral and written instructions. Ability to read prints, schematic diagrams and repair information; use power and plumbing tools. Ability to install and maintain HVAC components and related equipment; read gauges and meters for operation monitoring. Knowledge of safety practices when maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment. Minimum Qualifications

Training:

Graduation from a standard four-year high school or GED or four-year apprenticeship program or two-year post-secondary technical school. Substitution:

Experience in air-conditioning, heating or refrigeration may be substituted for the required training on a year-for-year basis. Experience:

Four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in heating, cooling, ventilation or the mechanical or building trades. Special Requirement:

Specific positions may require certification from a federal EPA approved testing organization as a certified technician required by the Clean Air Act on refrigerant recycling. Other Information
