The Site Coordinator will focus on supporting the field-based experience of initial teachers with collaborative opportunities between the university and partner districts along with evaluations and support of initial teacher candidates. This is a 10 month contract, part-time field-based position that includes 19.5 flexible hours a week during university and district hours. Applicants must be authorized to work for any US employer. The department is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time. Responsibilities
Collaborates with Educator Preparation Services on the Mentoring Academy and phasing guide. Collaborates with the Program and Educator Preparation Services to align the practicum experience providing consistency in the classroom and field. Collaborate with faculty on practicum courses to guide targeted assessments. Observe, discuss, and provide written feedback of informal observations regarding the teacher candidates' performance during the clinical experience. Field Supervision workload. Analyze, interpret, and apply data findings to improve candidate's instructional competency. Follow all rules and guidelines established by the district for acceptable professional conduct and dress. Establish and maintain mutual respect, trust, communication, and confidentiality with teacher candidates and the school/district personnel. Work in partnership with immediate supervisor through a formal system of evaluation of instruction to identify strengths and weaknesses and identify professional development activities to improve student learning. Course instructor for clinical experience courses as assigned to include Seminars. Other duties as needed to support the clinical experience and compliance. Shared Governance
Maintain a frequent, recurring presence in the district partner campuses. Participate in Shared Governance meetings with district stakeholders to include cooperating teachers / host teachers and campus administrators to create and foster a positive relationship with district and campus staff. Participate in informal observations of initial teacher candidates with campus administrators. Participate in Shared Governance meetings with university and community stakeholders. Partnership-building with both district administrators and university faculty and staff. Training
Attends Texas Education Agency updates and trainings. Attends Professional Development and Educator Preparation Services trainings on the implementation of supervision and mentoring. T-TESS certification and annual updates to include calibration sessions. Field Supervisor meetings. Remain current in discipline and update course content when appropriate to reflect current levels of student knowledge in the discipline. Other trainings as needed. Education and Experience
Master's degree At least three years of successful teaching experience in a TEA approved K-12 district. Principal certification Preferred Qualifications
