Data Center Energy Strategist
Job Summary
Iron Mountain is seeking a
dynamic Data Center Energy Strategist
to join our Global Data Centers team. In this role, you will be responsible for
developing and executing energy procurement, infrastructure, and sustainability strategies
to ensure power reliability, optimize costs, and achieve corporate climate goals. We're looking for a motivated and experienced individual who can lead complex energy initiatives and build strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
In this role, you will:
Develop and manage
reports to provide actionable insights for decision-making regarding energy consumption, cost, and efficiency across the data center portfolio.
Lead negotiations and execution
of complex energy infrastructure and procurement agreements (e.g., PPAs, utility contracts) that align with Iron Mountain's project requirements and sustainability commitments.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams
(e.g., Design, Engineering, Operations, Finance, Legal) to establish and communicate long-term energy requirements and support the site selection and development processes for new data centers.
Ensure compliance
with organizational standards, policies, and local labor and disclosure requirements related to energy reporting, sustainability, and market-specific regulations.
What You'll Bring (Skills & Qualifications)
The ideal candidate will have:
5+ years
of experience in energy strategy, procurement, utility relations, or project development for energy-intensive consumers, such as data centers.
Strong knowledge
of utility interconnection processes, electrical infrastructure, renewable energy sourcing, and energy market dynamics (e.g., tariffs, regulations).
Proven ability
in leading complex, large-scale projects and effectively communicating technical concepts to non-technical executive stakeholders.
Bachelor's degree
in business, engineering, environmental, or an energy-related discipline.
