Description: Marys Place provides safe and inclusive shelter and services for women, children and families on their journey out of homelessness. We operate a womens day center and several 24x7 family centers/shelters in King County. We serve hundreds of families moms, dads, and children providing a safe place for them to be inside and together at night, along with food, showers, clothing, and access to housing and employment resources. The Human Resources Generalist is a key member of the HR team, providing professional expertise and support across a wide range of HR functions. This full-time, non-exempt position supports both operational and strategic HR initiatives, including leave and accommodation management, employee relations, compensation and people data analysis, internal communications, and recruitment support. The Generalist will also own the exit and stay interview processes and contribute to the development of a two-way communication framework across the organization. The Generalist will also provide support to various recruitment activities, including job offers, background checks, adverse action administration, and onboarding activities. The working schedule is regular business hours Monday Friday, with the flexibility to work occasional evening or weekend hours to meet business needs. Applicants must provide proof of vaccination status. This is a non-exempt, non-supervisory, full-time position reporting to the HR Manager. The pay range is

$33.75

per hour DOE. The HR Generalist will work on site at our administration location in downtown Seattle (the HUB) with flexibility to work remotely occasionally by request and with approval. Key Responsibilities 35%: HR Administration & Employee Support Maintain accurate and compliant employee records (electronic and paper) Process staffing changes, new hires, terminations, and leaves of absence Conduct audits and reporting (I-9, EEO-1, payroll, etc.) Administer annual review processes and new staff check-ins Respond to unemployment and workers compensation claims Provide excellent customer service and HR policy guidance to staff Recommend process improvements and support HR system enhancements Manage employee recognition programs 20%: People Data & Compensation Analysis Analyze HR metrics including turnover, engagement, compensation trends Support compensation benchmarking and internal equity reviews Prepare reports and insights for leadership decision-making 15%: Leave and Accommodation Management Administer leave and accommodation requests from inquiry to resolution Ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal policies Maintain clear and updated documentation and communication with staff 10%: Organizational Communication & Culture Collaborate with HR leadership to design and implement a two-way communication framework that fosters transparency, trust, and engagement across all levels of the organization. Facilitate feedback loops between staff and leadership, including pulse surveys, listening sessions, and other engagement tools Support initiatives that promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture where employees across all backgrounds, roles, and lived experiences feel a sense of belonging 10%: Exit & Stay Interviews Own the exit and stay interview processes Analyze trends and provide actionable insights to HR leadership Recommend retention strategies based on findings 5%: Recruitment Support Assist with background checks, onboarding, and candidate communications Support interview coordination and reference checks 5%: Learning & Development Support Maintain training records and assign trainings in LMS Coordinate training material orders and logistics Other Duties as Assigned Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives Stay current on HR best practices and compliance requirements Requirements:

Qualifications/Skills/Experience Bachelors degree or higher in Human Resources or related field; HR certification strongly preferred (PHR or SHRM-CP) 1-2 years of relevant Human Resources Generalist experience including Leave and Accommodations management, support for recruiting (interviewing, background and reference checks, onboarding), policy interpretation and application, people data and compensation analysis, and skilled HR admin support. Superior organizational and time-management abilities; able to prioritize as well as manage a continuous stream of details Working knowledge of employment law on a local, state and federal level Working knowledge of the ADA, federal and state leave and disability accommodation regulations and best practices Preferred but not required: knowledge of and experience with OSHA and EEOC reporting requirements Track record of providing excellent customer service in the HR field, with focus on working with staff and management to resolve accommodations and leave issues Strong business and HR acumen, including problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and analysis Research skills to use available resources to identify and understand the latest laws and regulations in employment related topics including accommodation, leaves, and record-keeping Strong communication skills, including the ability to listen and connect with people; excellent spoken and written English Able to manage a busy workflow with minimal oversight in a fast-paced, lean environment with multiple and often-changing priorities Experience dealing with ambiguity and moving quickly to solutions Excellent Microsoft Office skills including SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint Experience with HRIS, LMS, ATS platforms desired (we use Paylocity for all HR, Payroll and Time functions) Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; to converse with and listen to people in many different settings The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, type, and reach with hands and arms; and requires the ability to occasionally push, pull, lift and/or carry supplies up to 25 pounds. Work takes place in a social services environment where long periods of sitting, working on a computer, walking to various work areas, going up and down stairs, and standing are required. Travel to program sites and meetings outside the office and around the county are necessary. Efforts like attention to detail, interacting with others in-person and through email, using critical thinking skills to strategize, develop and implement business plans, create and edit documents, listen and participate verbally at meetings.
