Job Description:
This is a classified advanced Journeyman position that serves as the assistant to the Maintenance Foreman and performs lead work duties over assigned Maintenance Repairers on an as-needed basis, as determined by the Maintenance Foreman.
Job Description
Performs morning daily checks and general repairs to: the computerized Easy Street access gates and computerized lot gates campus wide to include replacing parts, replacing damaged gate arms, and resetting the computers on each gate as needed; and to the computerized pay stations that are positioned around campus to include testing, repairing, & replacing parts. Installs and removes directional, reserved signs, and signposts campus-wide as needed. Creates & removes permanent reserved spaces, handicapped spaces, No Parking areas, and parking areas campus-wide.

Determines method of cleaning surfaces to be painted using various types of equipment and chemicals. Performs tasks necessary to maintain specific areas assigned to the university and satellite campuses. Creates specific signs as needed using a computerized vinyl sign machine. Installs and removes directional signs, reserved signs, and signposts campus-wide as assigned.

Provides support to the Painter Foreman, may requisition supplies and maintain records. Works hands-on with measuring, positioning, and applying reflective (non-reflective as needed) thermoplastic for crosswalks and stop bars campus-wide with the use of bonding chemicals (as needed) and a blowtorch gun to heat the thermoplastic to bond to the street surface, to include any other use required or assigned. Keep all equipment clean and in good working order. Performs incidental duties and various related work as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience:
Three years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR
Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant; OR
Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses plus one year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant.
