About the Role:
The Plumbing Apprentice role at PF Plumbing in Winston Salem, NC is designed to provide hands-on training and practical experience in the plumbing trade under the guidance of experienced professionals. The primary goal is to develop the apprentice's technical skills and knowledge in installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This position offers a structured learning environment where the apprentice will gain familiarity with plumbing tools, materials, safety protocols, and industry standards. Over time, the apprentice will contribute to project completion by assisting with various plumbing tasks, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to codes. Ultimately, this role prepares the individual for a successful career as a licensed plumber by combining on-the-job training with classroom instruction. This position will be an apprentice within the new construction field then move into the service side of plumbing upon completion of new construction. This a great opportunity to enter at entry level into the industry!
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic understanding of mathematics and mechanical concepts.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
Physical ability to perform manual labor including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
Willingness to learn and follow safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience or coursework related to plumbing, construction, or mechanical trades.
Familiarity with hand and power tools commonly used in plumbing.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Enrollment or willingness to enroll in a formal apprenticeship or technical training program.
Responsibilities:
Assist licensed plumbers in installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems including pipes, fixtures, and appliances.
Learn to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand plumbing layouts and requirements.
Prepare and clean work areas, gather necessary tools and materials, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Participate in troubleshooting plumbing issues and performing routine maintenance under supervision.
Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Skills:
The required skills such as basic math and mechanical aptitude are essential for understanding plumbing systems and performing accurate measurements and installations. Physical stamina and manual dexterity enable the apprentice to handle tools and materials safely and efficiently throughout the workday. Preferred skills like familiarity with plumbing tools and prior related experience help accelerate learning and improve task execution.
