This contract position is vital to address short staffing and open FTE needs within the hospital's Intermediate Care and Telemetry units. The ideal candidate will have strong acute care experience and the flexibility to float where their skills are most needed. Key Responsibilities The Step Down RN will primarily work in the Stepdown Intermediate Care 002 (14551) Department or a Med/Surg/Telemetry unit, depending on the facility's greatest need and the nurse's skillset. Responsibilities include: Providing comprehensive, high-quality nursing care to patients requiring close monitoring and complex interventions, often transferring from Intensive Care. Managing patient assignments that may include telemetry monitoring, ventilator weaning, post-surgical care, and complex medical diagnoses. Thorough and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes. Collaborating effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans. Maintaining clinical proficiency and adhering to all hospital policies and procedures. Assignment Logistics and Flexibility Job Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA) / Contract Location: 2301 N. Lake Drive, Milwaukee, WI, 53211 Open Positions: 1 Shift: Night Shift, 19:00 (7:00 PM) to 07:30 (7:30 AM) Duration: The contract is scheduled to run from November 30, 2025 , to February 28, 2026 . Scheduling: Must be available for Every Other Weekend (EOW) and Every Other Holiday (EOH) . Floating Requirement: Must be willing to float onsite within the required skill set (PCU/Step Down or Med/Surg/Telemetry) or to other facility sites within a 40-mile radius if needed. On-Call: No on-call is required for this assignment. Required Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 1 year of professional experience is required, with a strong preference for candidates having 2 years of recent acute care experience in a PCU, Step Down, or Med-Surg Telemetry setting. Skill Acceptance: The facility will accept a Step Down RN or a Med-Surg RN, as the credentialing process is the same for both skills. Licensure/Certification: Must possess all necessary active RN licensing for the state of Wisconsin or a compact state, and relevant certifications (e.g., BLS).
