Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists- Hoffman Estates is looking for a Veterinary Technician to join us as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

As a Veterinary Technician, you’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end-to-end care for our precious patients. Your life‑changing work will range from the hands‑on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.

Role Responsibilities:

Attend all hospital rounds

Obtain morning diagnostics with nursing team

Support the Criticalist and nursing team with morning updates of inpatients to owners if needed.

Assist nursing team with patient treatments as needed

Facilitate treatments and hospitalization of Criticalists’ outpatient cases.

Primary role with client education, performing discharges and any follow‑up questions.

Assist Criticalist with recheck exams, diagnostics and pertinent medical history.

Perform and monitor anesthetic procedures (i.e. CT scans)

Monitor Inventory for critical care department and ICU

Prepare estimates and review with clients if needed.

Assist Criticalist with any patient that is critical or becomes critical during a shift. Able to float with them to any department in the hospital.

Set‑up, maintain and monitor high‑flow and ventilator patients.

Competently calculates medical dosages/CRIs.

Delegates responsibilities to appropriate team members.

Point of contact for referring veterinarian/other team members if Criticalist is unavailable.

Creates clinical record documentation, obtains patient history and vital signs.

Coordinates prescription refills, emails and other communications for the Criticalist.

Experience & Skills Requirements:

CVT preferred or highly skilled individuals

Competent basic and advanced technician skills REQUIRED (i.e. phlebotomy, obtaining radiographs, diagnostic sampling, induction/monitoring sedated or anesthetic procedure, central lines, nasogastric lines, urinary catheter placements, arterial catheter placement, setup/monitor blood transfusions, etc)

Proficiency with advanced nursing care and procedures (setting up ventilator, high flow oxygen, bone marrow aspirates/biopsies, etc).

Advanced ability to assist with CPR

Able to recognize common critical care conditions and respond urgently to patient status changes.

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience‑$30‑35/hr. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
