Production Coordinator
The Production Coordinator is a critical, hands‑on role responsible for optimizing the entire production lifecycle at our client’s small manufacturing facility. This position acts as the central hub for Production Planning & Scheduling, Inventory Control, Purchasing, and Production Supervisory support. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem‑solver with strong organizational and leadership skills who can ensure efficient operations, on‑time delivery, and cost control. Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Scheduling
Develop and manage the master production schedule to meet customer demand and sales forecasts while maximizing plant efficiency and resource utilization. Translate sales orders into detailed production work orders and manage their release to the shop floor. Monitor and adjust the production schedule daily to account for material shortages, equipment downtime, or unexpected priority changes. Serve as the primary liaison between Sales, Production, and Management, communicating potential delays or capacity constraints. Inventory Control
Maintain accurate inventory records for raw materials, work‑in‑process (WIP), and finished goods using the ERP/MRP system. Implement and manage a cycle counting program to ensure inventory accuracy and investigate discrepancies. Establish and monitor optimal inventory levels (min/max, reorder points) to prevent stockouts while minimizing excess/obsolete inventory. Manage the flow of materials to the production line, ensuring kitting and staging are complete for upcoming jobs. Purchasing
Execute purchasing activities for raw materials and components based on the production schedule and inventory needs. Source new suppliers and manage relationships with existing vendors to ensure favorable pricing, quality, and on‑time delivery. Process Purchase Orders (POs), confirm delivery dates, and track open orders to proactively resolve potential supply chain disruptions. Monitor supplier performance metrics (quality, delivery) and lead continuous improvement efforts with key vendors. Production Support & Supervision
Work closely with the production team to monitor daily workflow and ensure adherence to the production schedule. Provide day‑to‑day supervisory support on the production floor, promoting a culture of safety, quality, and accountability. Identify and resolve production bottlenecks or material flow issues quickly to maintain efficiency. Assist in documenting and improving standard operating procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing and material handling. Qualifications & Skills
Required
2‑5 years of experience in Production Control, Planning, Scheduling, Materials Management, or a similar role in a manufacturing environment. Proven proficiency with ERP or MRP systems for planning, scheduling, inventory management, and purchasing. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a high degree of attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, essential for cross‑functional coordination. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel). Preferred
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a related field. Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles or other continuous improvement methodologies. APICS CPIM or CSCP certification is a plus.
