About the Department and/or College

Custodial Services provides daily cleaning of classrooms, offices, common areas, and bathrooms for more than 50 educational and general-use buildings on and off‑campus. Daily service ensures that these buildings are ready for the business of higher education and maintain the highest standards of safety and productivity.

Major/Essential Functions

• Restroom Specialist: Remove objects from toilets/urinals, pick up floor debris, refill all consumable product dispensers, empty all restroom trash/hygienic containers, dust, disinfect sinks, mirrors, doors, and assigned fomites, mop floor.
• Light Duty Specialist: Empty trash, remove trash and recycling to a collection area, dust all assigned surfaces, spot‑clean doors, switch plates, drinking fountains, vertical surfaces, mirrors, glass, clean and stock whiteboards/chalkboards.
• Detail weekly cleaning of assigned areas.
• Vacuum Specialist: Check wastebaskets, vacuum all traffic areas and spot vacuum other areas, detail vacuum all assigned areas weekly, reposition furniture, secure areas, turn out lights, fill vacuum maintenance form nightly.
• Utility Specialist: Spot‑clean elevator, police stairs and vacuum stairwells, clean glass entrances, pick up trash at assigned point and haul to dumpsters, detail clean carpet and mop hard surface floors, clean high‑visibility carpet.
• Assist in all floor care, shampoo and extract carpets as needed, operate carpet cleaning equipment safely, strip/finish hard‑surface floors following procedures.
• Wear issued uniform (shirt, slip‑resistant safety shoes, TTU ID). Follow management or supervisor instructions and all assigned duties.

Required Qualifications

Requires the ability to understand simple written and verbal instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to perform general custodial tasks including vacuuming, sweeping, general cleaning, sanitizing, finishing hardwood floors, and carpet cleaning.
• Advanced skills in hardwood and/or tile floor maintenance and carpet care.

Pay Range

$13.00 - $16.92 - $20.82 per hour

Pay Statement

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.

Travel Required

Up to 25%

Sunday through Thursday – 11:00 pm to 7:00 am
