Janitor
Primary Function
The primary function of the Janitor position is to maintain a clean facility by completing a variety of cleaning tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean floors, fixtures, and walls using standard cleaning supplies to maintain a neat appearance.
- Remove trash from offices, locker rooms, outside break-room areas, and washing areas, placing it in proper containers for disposal.
- Sanitize line and equipment at each line break.
- Perform duties to maintain good condition and appearance of the building.
- Ensure all towel and soap dispensers are full at all times and notify lead when supplies need reordering.
- Maintain clean appearance in offices and windows.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness of common areas, breakrooms, and employee restrooms.
- Perform basic trash removal from outside areas such as patio and smoking area.
- Work independently while ensuring high cleanliness standards.
Qualifications
- Prior experience cleaning in a food manufacturing or hospital setting.
- Good verbal and written communication.
- Proven ability to react to business needs.
- Ability to work independently.
- Two to four years of prior experience in a janitorial position.
- Ability to use all janitorial equipment and dispense chemicals after training.
- Maintain high cleanliness standards in a food manufacturing facility.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Years of Related Experience
One year of related experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words, recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers, multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variations.
