Essential Functions and Responsibilities for a Journeyman Electrician

• Install electrical panelboards, switchgear, lighting, disconnects, etc.
• Install and terminate electrical conductors for power and controls ranging from 20 awg to 750 kcmil
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems including feeders and branch circuits
• Install conduit for the ground, ladders, and/or mobile elevated work platforms. (Conduit types include galvanized rigid conduit, aluminum rigid conduit, intermediate metal conduit, electrical metallic tubing, and polyvinyl chloride conduit)
• Install all work in a manner that emphasizes safety first, quality second, while maintaining productivity standards
• Install all electrical material in a manner that minimizes waste
• Participate in daily safe work plans and weekly safety meetings

Minimum Requirements for a Journeyman Electrician

• 10,000 hours of work experience in a commercial and/or industrial setting or completion of a nationally recognized apprenticeship program
• Reliable transportation
• Must supply own hand tools
• Journeyman or master electrician license is a plus but not required
