Grade E: $90,590-$128,239

Summary

The Commercial Management and Analytics Manager, Worker’s Compensation supports the performance management of our Workers’ Compensation (WC) Third-Party Administrator (TPA). This role plays a critical part in equipping senior leadership with the analyses, process improvement recommendations, and executive presentations needed to evaluate, optimize, and hold the TPA accountable for claims outcomes and service delivery.

Responsibilities

Develop KPIs and produce reports to assess the TPA’s financial, operational, and service delivery performance as well as compliance with performance guarantees. Example metrics include claim volume, duration, and denial rate, return to work (RTW) compliance, unavailability due to WC, evidence collection SLA compliance.

Identify trends, gaps and opportunities in operational processes and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.

Design, build, and maintain dashboards and visuals to help the Senior Commercial Director, operating units, and NYCT leadership to get a full understanding of the program’s performance.

Liaise with TPA to get regular data updates and feeds, exploring opportunities to automate and establish cadence. Prepare presentations in support of the Senior Commercial Director’s briefings to NYCT and MTAHQ executives.

Facilitate conversations between MTA IT and functional leads for TPA / other vendors used by Workers’ Compensation to resolve technical issues and enhance operational efficiency. Assist with coordinating special projects.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Management, Computer Information System or a related field. Minimum 6 years progressively responsible experience in Workers’ Compensation claims management and administration. At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.

A satisfactory combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Desired Skills:

Master’s degree in a related field.

At least 3 years in a managerial and/or leadership role.

Familiarity with the MTA’s policies and procedures.

Familiarity with the MTA’s collective bargaining procedures.

Familiarity with SQL and PowerBI.

Familiarity with workers’ compensation, insurance, or claims management.

Prior experience working in a large, multi-faceted, fast-paced organization or governmental body.
