Responsibilities You will install, adjust, align, troubleshoot, and perform final functional and operational tests on a variety of major aircraft systems You will disassemble components/systems and determine the required repairs on aircrafts. You will correct problems by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts, e.g., bad actuators, corroded fuel lines, etc You will inspect engine for fuel, oil, and hot air leaks during engine run. You will conduct pressure and obstruction tests of fuel systems and check pneudraulic/hydraulic systems after repair on aircraft. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element is: 1) A comprehensive understanding of aircraft and helicopters, coupled with the ability to apply mathematical formulas related to weight and balance; 2) Ability to assist Squadron Weight & Balance Officers in resolving any weight and balance concerns that may impact mission requirements; 3) Strong communication skills; and 4) The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound decisions. Education Additional Information This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position requires rotating shift work. This position requires exposure to high noise levels. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
