The R&R Center in Pawling, NY, is dedicated to offering comprehensive sheltering, behavioral, and medical care for canine victims of cruelty. Our team collaborates closely with ASPCA staff in New York City to support animals rescued in partnership with the NYPD. This is an in-person position located in Pawling, NY. Key Responsibilities: Provide a safe and compassionate care environment for animals, staff, and clients through low-stress handling techniques. Team up with behavior and sheltering colleagues to ensure balanced care for animals and foster a cohesive team culture. Communicate effectively with the behavior team to share updates on animals in a timely manner. Observe animals for signs of illness or injury and report any concerns promptly. Assist during exams, surgery, specimen collection, and humane euthanasia procedures. Administer medication under a veterinarian's supervision while adhering to all regulations. Monitor the safety and comfort of post-operative patients. Keep thorough documentation of findings and protocols. Maintain clean and organized medical areas and assist with daily animal care. Track inventory to ensure veterinary areas are well-stocked. Administrative and Operational Duties: Participate in daily rounds with behavioral and sheltering staff to provide integrated care. Attend all relevant meetings and training sessions. Accurately document work hours and related expenses. Core Values:

Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required; a Bachelor’s degree is a plus. At least one year of experience handling and restraining dogs in a veterinary or shelter setting; Veterinary Assistant experience preferred. Fear Free Veterinary certification required within 60 days of hire. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with shelter software is a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable with humane euthanasia and sensitive to the challenges of the role. Collaborative and proactive in problem-solving and adapting to change.
