Position Summary The AV Technical Live Event Director is responsible for the end-to-end planning, coordination, and technical execution of live and hybrid events. This includes overseeing all audiovisual elements—sound, lighting, video, streaming, and stage presentation—to ensure seamless, high-quality delivery that meets both client and production standards.

The ideal candidate combines hands‑on technical expertise with strong production management skills, capable of translating creative concepts and event goals into flawless technical execution.

Key Responsibilities Event Planning & Production Oversight

Show caller

Partner with clients, producers, and internal teams to define technical requirements for live, virtual, and hybrid events.

Develop detailed show flows, cue sheets, and run‑of‑show documents.

Manage and coordinate AV technicians, camera operators, and vendors during event setup, execution, and teardown.

Lead technical rehearsals and live show operations, ensuring readiness across all AV systems.

Oversee integration of presentation content, video playback, and live camera feeds into switching systems and media servers.

Technical Execution

Supervise all AV systems, including: Video projection and LED walls; Audio mixing and microphone systems; Lighting design and control systems; Streaming and broadcast platforms; Camera operations and switching workflows.

Operate or direct technicians on video switchers, media systems, and live production consoles (e.g., Blackmagic ATEM, vMix, TriCaster, Ross, Barco, etc.).

Troubleshoot technical issues quickly during live events to minimize disruption.

Ensure redundancy, backup systems, and network reliability for hybrid or streamed events.

Client and Vendor Coordination

Serve as the primary technical liaison for clients during planning and execution.

Coordinate with venues, third‑party AV partners, and internal Milestone teams to meet event specifications.

Communicate production schedules, load‑in/out plans, and staffing needs to all stakeholders.

Post‑Event

Conduct technical debriefs and post‑show evaluations.

Manage asset returns, storage, and maintenance of AV equipment.

Provide feedback and documentation for continuous process improvement.

Qualifications Required

5+ years of experience in live event production.

Previous experience show calling in large high‑pressure events.

Deep understanding of video, audio, and lighting systems used in professional event environments.

Experience leading multi‑camera, hybrid, & streamed events.

Proficiency with tools such as Ross, TriCaster, QLab, Dante, NDI, or similar systems.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, stage plots, and signal flow diagrams.

Strong leadership and communication skills under pressure.

Available for flexible hours, travel, and on‑site event work as required.

Dante Level 2+ certification.

Strong background in Zoom as an event platform.

Preferred

Experience in corporate, tech, or agency‑based production environments.

Familiarity with content playback servers and live graphic systems.

Working knowledge of IT network fundamentals for AV‑over‑IP systems.

Certifications such as CTS, QSYS, and similar are a plus.
