Associate Director of Financial Information Systems Job Summary The Associate Director of Financial Information Systems role is an integral part of the KIPP DC Information team, supporting the effective design, operation, and enhancement of KIPP DC’s financial systems, including Workday Financials and related systems. The starting salary range for this role is $103,491 - $114,384. The role is full‑time, hybrid, and based at HDQ with an anticipated start date of January 2026.

About the Role The Associate Director of Financial Information Systems will work cross‑functionally across the Information, Finance, and Accounting teams to optimize how KIPP DC’s financial systems support the organization’s financial strategy and service delivery. Responsibilities include system configuration, release management, security oversight, reporting support, vendor management, and end‑user enablement.

Location and Type of Work This is an exempt position, reporting to the Director of Enterprise Systems. The role is headquartered at HDQ with hybrid flexibility and will be required to be onsite three days per week.

Responsibilities The percentages for each key responsibility are estimates. Flexibility and responsiveness are encouraged to accommodate organizational needs.

System and Report Configuration, Optimization & Support (40%)

Support configuration and maintenance of KIPP DC financial systems and associated reports in alignment with evolving business requirements. Current systems include Workday Financials, Adaptive, Ramp, and Egencia.

Manage testing, implementation, and documentation of KIPP DC financial system updates and break/fix resolutions, coordinating closely with finance and HR partners.

Monitor system performance and integrations, identifying opportunities to proactively mitigate technical risk or user disruption.

Work with functional leaders in Finance and Accounting and other teams to design, configure, and test new financial and operational reports and updates to existing reports in KIPP DC financial systems.

Implement the Workday Financials configuration roadmap, using priorities set by the Director of Enterprise Systems and incorporating feedback from stakeholders.

Maintain internal documentation of system design decisions, business processes, and change history to ensure transparency and knowledge retention.

Support finance team ticketing system by resolving Tier II and III tickets received by the finance team when troubleshooting, configuration, or bug‑fixing is required.

Data Governance, Integrity & Compliance (20%)

Ensure data governance and integrity across KIPP DC financial systems, working closely with the Director of Enterprise Systems, Technology, and Finance and Accounting functional leads to reinforce data consistency, compliance, and audit readiness.

Conduct regular audits and reconciliations of KIPP DC financial systems (e.g., orphaned processes, cost center mapping), communicate and resolve integrity issues, and provide training and job aids to prevent recurrence.

Manage integration points between KIPP DC financial systems and other platforms, ensuring secure, accurate data exchanges.

Maintain user‑based security and role‑based access within KIPP DC financial systems, ensuring compliance with internal controls and data privacy standards.

Collaborate with internal audit, legal, accounting, HR, and IT to ensure processes meet regulatory, financial reporting, and internal policy requirements.

Training, Documentation & Stakeholder Enablement (20%)

Work with Finance and Accounting Functional Leaders to develop searchable documentation, training guides, and job aids to support consistent usage and reduce support requests.

Serve as a liaison between technical staff and other financial system end users across KIPP DC, identifying and translating recurring pain points into actionable improvements.

Support initiatives to drive financial system new feature adoption, business process ownership, and data literacy across the Finance and Accounting team.

Project & Change Management (20%)

Advise on and implement new financial systems or modules as well as process redesign initiatives.

Participate in change management activities for financial system changes/releases, ensuring stakeholders are informed and prepared.

Support continuous improvement by incorporating user feedback, vendor updates, and emerging best practices into project planning.

Requirements & Preferences Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field OR bachelor’s degree in another field and at least 3 years of work experience in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related area.

At least five years of experience in systems administration and/or reporting, ERP configuration, or business systems analysis, particularly with financial systems and especially Workday Financials or Ramp.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with financial management or financial/business operations (e.g., financial planning or month‑end close).

Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., Zendesk, ServiceNow) and service center operations.

Project management experience leading cross‑functional system implementations or process improvement initiatives.

Benefits & Compensation

The anticipated starting salary range for this position is $103,491 – $114,384.

KIPP DC offers a robust benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurances; various voluntary benefits; and employer paid benefits such as short‑term disability, long‑term disability, life insurance, and membership to One Medical.

KIPP DC also offers a 403(b) retirement account with a 3% employer contribution and a 3% match with vesting after three years.

Paid time off: up to 15 paid days, up to 10 paid sick days, and 12 paid holidays (subject to change; schedule will be provided in the offer letter).
