Summary
Perform journey level work in the construction and maintenance of parks and related facilities. Essential Functions
Repair, maintain and install park equipment including picnic tables, benches, signs, and related fixtures; Assist crews in set-up for special events including moveable bleachers, staging and sound equipment, props and other equipment; Operate trucks, backhoes, tractors, forklifts, jackhammers and other construction equipment as required; Supervise the work of temporary employees making repairs at various locations on the route; Maintain vehicles and equipment as required; Purchase materials and supplies needed to accomplish daily assignments as approved. Use approved purchasing procedures; Troubleshoot and repair water fountains, faucets, drip lines, toilets, sinks, sprinkler heads and other plumbing fixtures as required; Cut and make reliable welds to repair metal objects or equipment; Perform related duties as required. Qualifications Position requires completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional one year experience in maintenance and construction of parks and related facilities; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following: Physical Exam Required
Valid Texas Driver's License
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
Operation and maintenance of motorized vehicles and equipment typically used in construction and maintenance; Types of hand tools and power tools typically used in construction and maintenance; Methods involved in routine plumbing, concrete construction, carpentry, and clean up of large areas. Ability to:
Perform manual tasks requiring physical strength and endurance; Follow oral and written instructions; Work cooperatively with others; Supervise the work of others.
Physical Requirements
Continuously lift and carry up to 25 pounds; Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds; Occasionally lift and carry up to 100 pounds; Continuously stand and walk during the shift; Frequently climb ladders, scaffolding, stairs and inclined surfaces; Frequently bend and kneel during the shift; Frequently push and pull objects; Frequently flex upper trunk forward, partial flexing of knees; Frequently rotate upper trunk to the right or left while sitting or standing; Frequently reach arms above, at or below shoulder height; Coordinate eye, hand and foot movement in order to operate a vehicle or equipment.
