Roll Shop Technician Responsibilities: As a Roll Shop Technician, you will plan, coordinate, and perform essential roll shop functions to maintain Hot Mill and Cold Mill rolls efficiently. Your key responsibilities will include: Adhering to all plant safety policies and guidelines. Independently performing basic chocking/dechocking of work rolls. Minimally supervised chocking/dechocking of back-up rolls. Utilizing precision measurement instruments such as dial indicators, hand micrometers, and digital calipers. Operating and troubleshooting roll grinding equipment. Grinding rolls per specifications on WMW and Landis Roll Grinders. Maintaining excellent recordkeeping and documentation for roll grind parameters. Providing daily shift reports on all activities performed. Collaborating with Hot Mill and Cold Mill employees on roll-change tasks. Conducting daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance on roll grinders and related equipment. Inspecting and replacing seals in roll chocks. Carrying out basic mechanical repairs on Roll Shop and roll chock equipment. Performing Bearing PMs as required (training will be provided). Removing, rebuilding, and reinstalling hydraulic cylinders in roll chocks as assigned. Ensuring a clean and organized work environment. Learning Cold Mill stations and assisting with Trucker and Pay-off positions as needed. Qualifications: Strong troubleshooting skills in roll shop activities. Effective communication and problem-solving abilities in varying pace environments. Basic knowledge of Roll Shop tasks. Demonstrated mechanical skills and knowledge. Self-motivated and able to take initiative with minimal supervision post-training. Proficient in safely operating overhead cranes, fork trucks, and other mobile equipment. Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining a tidy workspace. Basic computer skills: Windows, Microsoft Outlook, SharePoint, Word, and Excel.
