Iowa City Hospice and The Visiting Nurse Association is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented
Communications Coordinator
to join our team. This role is part time (20 hours per week) and offers an exciting opportunity to craft and manage our internal and external communications, ensuring our message is clear, consistent, and engaging. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator with a passion for storytelling and a talent for coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage communication strategies to promote organizational initiatives, guide agency culture, enhance brand visibility, increase utilization of services and educate audiences about agency services,
- Write, edit, and distribute press releases, newsletters, social media content, and other communication materials
- Write, edit and track grants
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure messaging aligns with organizational goals
- Manage social media platforms, monitor engagement, and analyze performance metrics
- Organize and support events, press conferences, and public relations activities
- Maintain and update communication channels, including websites and intranet platforms
- Monitor media coverage and prepare reports on communication effectiveness

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field Prefer a minimum three - five years' proven experience in communications, public relations, or marketing, preferably in healthcare or nonprofit sector and experience with grant writing. Proficiency in social media management tools, content management systems, and MS Office Suite Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, experience with event planning is a plus Fluent in in social media trends and content management with digital marketing tools. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Compassionate and empathetic towards patients and families. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with attention to detail and accuracy. Strong working knowledge and experience with computer operating systems and web content. Prefer working knowledge with platforms, and content management systems, Adobe Creative and Microsoft office applications including PowerPoint. Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a passion for storytelling and community engagement. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse populations. Commitment to the mission and values of hospice and Home care service, with sensitivity to end-of-life issues and experiences. Car, driver's license and adequate insurance as outlined in the personnel policies is required. All offers of employment are conditioned upon the result of a criminal background check conducted by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, as required by law, and a negative finding on the Office of Inspector General's Excluded Provider List.
