Job Summary: Responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures in an acute care CT department to adult and/or pediatric patients for the purpose of diagnosis and/or treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders.
Job Responsibilities:
Performs imaging examinations in CT; May also be trained to perform QC or invasive procedures, such as needle biopsies. May also be trained in additional modalities, such as X-ray. Explains procedures to patients and maintains a safe and comfortable environment; Provides necessary pre- and post- procedure patient care. Completes review of patients' chart to verify exam orders and validate reason for exam. Interview patients regarding personal history, implanted devices, contrast allergies, etc. Practices proper patient positioning and scanning protocols to achieve diagnostic quality imaging. Adjust, maintain, and operate imaging equipment by following applicable protocol parameters to acquire high-quality, diagnostic images. Administer contrast under radiologists' supervision, when applicable. Monitor patients for adverse reactions and ensure safety throughout the procedure. Implement radiation protection techniques to minimize exposure to patients and staff, by adhering to ALARA guidelines. Maintain accurate records within clinical documentation support systems; Manages imaging data in PACS and documents procedures in EMR. Follows best practice safety guidelines as established by ACR and other regulatory bodies. Work closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals. Provides clinical instructions and evaluations for students. Performs Other Responsibilities as Assigned. Minimum Qualifications:
Degree: Associate degree in Radiography Experience: 0-4 years Supervisor Experience: None required Licenses & Certifications:
R.T.(R) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Computerized Tomography (CT) certification by the ARRT required within 1 year of being hired into the position. BLS required within 30 days of employment. Working Conditions:
