Role Summary

The

Controller

will be a foundational hire reporting directly to the CFO, responsible for building and scaling the finance function from the ground up. This role will lead the design and implementation of accounting systems, financial reporting processes, and internal controls to support a high-growth, acquisition-driven business.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity ideal for a strategic finance professional with a builder mentality, deep technical expertise, and experience in service-based or project-driven industries.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement accounting infrastructure, including systems, policies, procedures, and internal controls. Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Oversee cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and treasury operations. Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions. Build and mentor a high-performing accounting and finance team. Partner with leadership to develop budgeting, forecasting, and KPI frameworks. Support financial due diligence and post-acquisition integration of newly acquired entities. Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and debt covenants. Key Requirements 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including leadership roles. Proven success in building or transforming finance functions in service-based or project-driven industries. Experience in a private equity-backed environment and acquisition integration. Strong understanding of GAAP, treasury management, and financial systems implementation. Hands-on experience with percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA ideal; MBA preferred). Excellent leadership, communication, and change management skills.
