Facilities Technician – Refrigerated Food Production Facility (Linden, NJ)
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Facilities Technician to support the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of our refrigerated food production facility. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in facilities maintenance, mechanical/electrical troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance in an industrial or food manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and refrigeration support systems.
Conduct preventive maintenance on production equipment, facility infrastructure, and utilities to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Monitor and maintain critical systems such as compressors, chillers, boilers, and water treatment.
Support maintenance of conveyors, packaging equipment, and other production machinery as needed.
Respond promptly to emergency repair requests to minimize downtime.
Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and compliance documentation.
Collaborate with production, sanitation, and safety teams to support smooth operations in a refrigerated environment.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, GMP, and facility safety standards.
Qualifications:
3+ years of facilities or maintenance technician experience in manufacturing, food production, or industrial environments.
Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and work with diagnostic tools.
Refrigeration (ammonia or Freon) and/or boiler operation experience preferred.
Familiarity with CMMS systems (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) a plus.
Must be able to work independently, prioritize tasks, and handle fast-paced production environments.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in cold storage/refrigerated settings as required.
