FACILITIES MAINTENANCE MECHANIC
Qualifications
1. Minimum experience as determined by the board
2. Ability to work cooperatively with other school staff
3. Knowledge of school plant operation, maintenance and security
4. Experience with HVAC and Boiler Systems
5. Commercial Driver's License Class A
6. Black Seal Boiler License
7. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident
alien status
8. Ability to meet the physical requirements outlined in the job description
Reports to:
Buildings & Grounds Supervisor
Job Goal:
To perform duties which will maintain the physical school plant, grounds and equipment in a condition of safety of excellence.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
MAINTENANCE : Maintains preventative maintenance logs and other records as required Maintains schedules of maintenance work ensures that proper supplies are on hand for necessary repairs and for preventative maintenance Ensures proper maintenance and operation of district facilities Strives to promote a health and safe environment for staff and students Assists other district staff with the preparation of playing fields, grounds and other necessary facilities for school activities, when assigned Maintains clean and well-kept vehicles, tools and equipment Respond to alarm activations throughout the district. ENVIRONMENTAL AND HEALTH RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Has basic knowledge of the district's school integrated pest management policy.
Understands and maintains required records, and to respond to inquiries regarding
the pest management program.
2. Avoids chemical spills or other pollution. Maintains clean and safe work areas.
3. Under the direction of the buildings & grounds supervisor, assists with Right-to-Know
data practices, procedures and record-keeping.
4. Responsible for snow removal and other duties necessary to prepare the facilities for
the safe arrival of staff and students.
5. Ensures proper maintenance and operation on HVAC and Boilers.
PURCHASING:
Recommends for purchase necessary equipment and supplies and maintains an inventory of them. Immediately reports any theft or misappropriation of supplies to the buildings & grounds supervisor. Determines and establishes detailed specifications pertaining to supplies, materials, equipment and local contract work. INSPECTIONS:
Inspects all school buildings on a regular basis to determine that high standards of operability, cleanliness, safety and security are maintained. Assists with the inspections and maintenance of fire/security alarm systems and fire extinguishers on a regularly scheduled basis. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Lifting (up to 50 lbs.) Climbing ladders Ability to sweep, mop, mow, shovel, paint, light mechanical work, light carpentry work, light plumbing work, drilling, etc. OTHER:
May be required, for security purposes, to wear specific work clothing or uniform while on duty. When assigned, will participate in emergency and security drills and procedures. Performs related maintenance and repair duties within the scope of the job description as assigned by the buildings & grounds supervisor. Be able to work overtime to complete maintenance tasks in extraordinary circumstances (snow removal, summer maintenance projects, vendor assistance, etc.)
SALARY:
$52,500/year
