Job Description
We are recruiting an experienced Controller to join a construction company in the Vacaville area. This role leads the accounting and finance department, overseeing full-cycle accounting processes while driving project profitability and ensuring efficiency and accuracy. This is a
hybrid
schedule.
Salary: $160,000-$180,000 (DOE) plus bonus.
The qualified candidate will have strong experience in GL accounting, project billing and project-based ERP systems (Deltek Vision preferred).
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis to support strategic decision-making and ensure accurate financial reporting. Manage billing, A/R, A/P, payroll journal entries, and general ledger functions; oversee month-end closings, balance sheets, and income statements. Ensure adherence to GAAP standards, manage tax filings, and maintain robust internal controls across all financial processes. Supervise a high-performing accounting team and serve as the primary financial liaison for internal departments and external vendors. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years of executive-level, accrual-based accounting experience with deep knowledge of GAAP and applicable tax regulations. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and hands-on experience with Deltek Vision or similar A/E ERP systems. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; prior experience in architecture, engineering, or professional services is strongly preferred. Strong analytical mindset, proactive team leadership, and willingness to work primarily on-site to support hands-on management responsibilities.
