Accountability Objective
The Disability & Testing Specialist is responsible for assisting the Director with the daily functions of the Testing & Academic Support Services Center. The Incumbent assists with planning and providing front-line, comprehensive services to special populations, CTE students, transfer students, and community members. Under Testing, the Incumbent is responsible for scheduling appointments for students and prospective students, setting up testing schedules with faculty and staff, administering and proctoring assessments and exams, compiling results of assessments, and troubleshooting computer/web-based testing issues. With Disability Services, the Incumbent provides support services to students with disabilities including appropriate academic accommodations, general academic assistance, personal support, and career guidance. Additionally, this position is designed to work closely with faculty as well as other departments on campus to assure compliance with ADA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. This position serves a vital role in our students' journey to their education and career goals.
Required Qualifications
Associate Degree in Office Systems, Education, or other related field OR Five Year's strong work experience.
Ability to work with individuals and departments to assess and reconcile work/academic situations.
Must be self-directed and innovative, able to assess student needs in an effort to improve the retention/success rates of students.
Excellent organizational skills, oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated work experience with computers, Microsoft Office, and Windows. Ability to troubleshoot technical problems with computers and browsers.
Ability to communicate effectively and assist individuals from special populations and diverse backgrounds including various socio-economic, education, and ethnic backgrounds
Ability to multitask and work diligently under pressure.
Ability to work occasional evenings and some weekends as needed.
Desired Qualifications
Working knowledge of DACC academic programs and services.
1 to 3 years' experience in an office environment or working in a front-line service environment.
Experience administering and proctoring tests and assessments.
Knowledge of the American Disabilities Act (1990), Vocational Rehabilitation Act Section 504 (1973), and other federal and state statutes.
Knowledge of educational accommodations and plans to assist individuals with disabilities.
