$25- $30 per hour on W2 Job Description:
Specialty Engineering Materials & Processes Support Technician qualified to develop and execute evaluation and testing of metallic, non-metallic, and composite materials used in Aerospace and Defense programs. Work with Materials & Processes engineers to develop and perform destructive and non-destructive techniques which include material property testing, analytical methods, failure analysis, and surface preparation Responsibilities include interfacing with internal customers to assist in the selection, evaluation, and application of numerous materials and processes relevant to the technical activities of L3Harris Contribute ideas for new process development or process improvements. Work is hands-on in a lab environment involving manufacturing process development of structural/non-structural bonding, coating, molding applications Essential Functions:
Metallurgical and electronic component cross-sectioning and polishing includes sample preparation, potting, etching, and microscopy. Adhesive bonding includes surface preparation, cleaning, chemical etch, and application of coating systems. Over molding and potting cables. Design of molds. Drawing interpretation per ASME Y14.100 Working with internal customer teams in a development lab and development type environment Collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment, sharing knowledge and insights, and assisting colleagues with their work when necessary. Time management skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously. Working with minimal supervision and high degree of initiative Working with and around hazardous chemicals Assisting in routine laboratory operations Qualifications:
Requires fully proficient job knowledge/skills. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/associate degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Highly skilled at cross-sectioning, polishing, surface preparation, chemical etch, and priming Competency in MS Office Suite and proficiency in documenting procedures Works well in team environment with good communication skills Ability to work on multiple projects at one time
