Job Description Job Title: Technologist Profession: Technologist Specialty: Computed Tomography (CT) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: 2+ years of Experience required License: ARRT, BLS (AHA) required Certifications: ARRT, BLS (AHA) required Must-Have: Experience in X-Ray; Toshiba CT Scanner experience is a plus
Description: This position assists the radiologist and other physicians with high-quality computerized tomographic and radiographic images required for the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The technologist will ensure the least amount of radiation exposure to oneself and the patient. General care is provided to the patient while in the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Performs computed tomography studies following protocol. Is able to differentiate between normal and abnormal anatomy and will tailor exams according to patient history, protocol, and radiologist instruction. Administers IV and oral contrast as required for procedures according to protocols. Follows departmental protocol and guidelines for the delivery of IV contrast material. Monitors the patient's physical and mental condition throughout the entire procedure. Records any and all patient data appropriately. Provides radiation protection for patients, self, and others using gonadal shielding and collimation where applicable. Documents acknowledgment of scheduling as directed. Performs nursing duties, including assisting the radiologist in the performance of sterile procedures and practicing sterile technique. Obtains vital signs and pertinent clinical history. Must be proficient in venous puncture and document any important data appropriately. Will be able to identify allergic reactions or urgent medical conditions and notify and assist the radiologist in the treatment of such situations.
