General Overview
We are looking for a dedicated
Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) focused on OBOT and Withdrawal Management
to join our team. This full-time position is crucial in helping individuals facing mental health challenges and ensuring they receive the support they need. Working under the guidance of licensed counselors, you will play a key role in the care and treatment of individuals with substance use disorders in an inpatient setting. Your responsibilities will include engaging with clients, facilitating group sessions, case management, and various aspects of client care aimed at promoting recovery. This role has set hours but may require weekend and holiday rotations. Key Responsibilities Assist clients in adapting to the treatment environment, ensuring it remains safe and therapeutic. Provide emotional support and encouragement to individuals in recovery. Support clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene and medication management. Facilitate and co-facilitate group therapy sessions while maintaining a supportive therapeutic environment. Observe and document client behaviors, and share insights with the treatment team. Complete necessary documentation, such as assessments, progress notes, and treatment plans in a timely manner. Respond to crisis situations using appropriate techniques, including CPI, CPR, and First Aid. Educate clients on recovery principles, relapse prevention, and coping strategies. Provide clients with information about available resources for continued recovery. Demonstrate an understanding of the agency's mission, vision, and policies. Participate in sanctuary process teams and support sanctuary initiatives. Essential Qualifications Show genuine care and empathy for individuals facing substance use disorders. Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members while maintaining confidentiality. Develop conflict resolution skills for group settings and individual interactions. Understand the disease of addiction, recovery processes, and prevention strategies. Familiar with local recovery groups (e.g., AA, NA, Celebrate Recovery). Participate in group therapy sessions, fostering a safe and therapeutic environment. Assist in creating individualized treatment plans that meet client needs. Practice within the scope of licensure, supporting clients in various capacities. Utilize the OCDPB Twelve Core Functions and Competencies under supervision. Maintain accurate and confidential client records. Follow all local, state, and federal confidentiality laws. Adhere to a code of ethics, maintaining professional boundaries. Employ therapeutic modalities like Motivational Interviewing and Stages of Change. Equal Opportunity Employer Physical Requirements: Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods. Valid Ohio Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA) certification. Preferred Qualifications: Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field. Experience working in behavioral health settings. Strong knowledge of substance use disorders. Candidates eligible to drive company vehicles must possess a valid driver's license and meet the agency's insurance eligibility requirements. For those driving personal vehicles for business purposes, proof of insurance is required.
