Controller

to join their team. Our client is guided by a strong leadership team and driven by a passion and commitment to their mission. As Controller, you will be a key member of the leadership team, playing a crucial role in shaping the organization's long-term financial health and sustainability. You will oversee their Finance Department, guaranteeing the organization's excellence and financial integrity. On-Site What you will do:

Provide leadership to the accounting team and manage the organization's financial activities Produce timely, accurate financial reports in accordance with FASB, GAAP, and grant/donor restrictions Establish and oversee financial policies and controls to protect assets Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning Oversee cash flow management, debt servicing, and banking relationships Manage tax filings (990s, 1099s, 5500s) and annual audits, as well as maintain preparedness for audits Provide financial guidance to leadership, the Finance Committee, and the Board of Directors Ensure compliance with grant requirements, monitor restricted funds, and support capital project accounting Oversee inventory control systems and vendor management Partner with HR regarding payroll, benefits, workers ' compensation, and 401(k) audits Direct risk management efforts and ensure licensing compliance Manage major contracts, permit renewals, and RFPs What you will need to be successful: Bachelor's in accounting (master's preferred) 5+ years of experience in accounting with 3+ years of supervisory experience Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting Skilled with accounting software and Microsoft Office (QuickBooks highly preferred) Exceptional analytical thinking, leadership capabilities, and communication skills Ability to ethically and responsibly handle confidential information Valid Iowa driver's license or the ability to obtain one Experience with nonprofit accounting (preferred) Background in donor-restricted funds and overseeing grant management (preferred) Experience with financial systems administration (preferred) Benefits overview: Health, dental, and vision insurance 401k PTO Interested and qualified candidates can contact Palmer Group at (515) 225-7000 or email afjobs@thepalmergroup.com.
