Job Title: CT Technologist Profession: CT Technologist Specialty: CT Technologist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 AM - 07:30 PM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Massachusetts State Radiologic Technologist license Certifications: ARRT (CT) Must-Have: Level 1 trauma experience Siemens experience Description: Under general supervision and following established procedures, operates CT equipment to acquire images for use by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies. Staff will be required to float among radiology clinics and divisions as needed. Operates CT equipment to obtain diagnostic images and information according to departmental protocol. Ensures the patient is properly prepared, positioned, and immobilized and utilizes protective shielding as needed. Selects proper imaging factors and images the designated portion(s) of the body. Explains the exam to the patient, taking into consideration physical and emotional needs; maintains ethical standards including patient confidentiality and professional conduct. Delivers patient care under scope of license and training. Maintains effective working relations and communication with departmental and other hospital personnel. Calibrates and verifies the operation of all equipment to be used during the workday. Notifies appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions and repairs needed. Executes paperwork and Radiology Information System functions as necessary for each patient exam. Performs venipuncture for contrast administration under the direction of a radiologist. Follows all hospital and departmental contrast administration policies and procedures. Attends staff meetings, in-services, and maintains appropriate CEUs in accordance with licensure requirements. May oversee and instruct various personnel and technology students within the department. Prepares the equipment room and supplies necessary for each patient and regular daily use. Stocks and supplies the room as needed. Acknowledges and participates in research programs, quality assurance, and quality improvement projects in the department. Assumes responsibilities for on-call coverage and remains flexible in all shift coverage situations. Rotates within the department and all off-site clinics, cooperating with all personnel. Transports and transfers patients using established procedures according to departmental guidelines. Uses independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative under pressure in a variety of situations when performing patient exams. Performs all other duties as directed. Education/Training Requirements: Must be a graduate of an approved school of radiologic technology. Must possess a current state radiologic technologist license and be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent. Registered in CT by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent is required. Must meet, successfully complete, and maintain the ARRT CT certification. 2-3 years of experience as a radiologic technologist is preferred, with at least one year in cross-sectional anatomy courses. Must have interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical and/or emotional stress. Must possess analytical abilities necessary to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of imaging processes, techniques, and procedures, and cross-sectional anatomy.
