Toolroom Maintenance Technician
Location: Fitchburg, MA Job Type: Full-Time, On-Site, 1st Shift (MondayFriday, 7:00am3:00pm) Pay Range: $30 $40 per hour Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision (starting day 1), 401(k) eligibility, tuition reimbursement, and more. Job Summary
Adecco Permanent Recruitment is partnering with a well-established manufacturer in the plastic fastening and materials industry to help them hire a Toolroom Technician. This hands-on position supports a three-shift injection molding and extrusion operation, ensuring molds, dies, and related tooling are properly maintained and production-ready. The role is ideal for a skilled machinist or toolmaker with strong mechanical aptitude and a background in injection molding maintenance. Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on molds, dies, and production tooling. Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble complex injection molds. Operate milling machines, lathes, grinders, EDMs, and other shop equipment for repairs and modifications. Convert and set up molds for production changeovers. Document tooling maintenance and repairs in accordance with quality standards. Troubleshoot tooling issues and collaborate with engineering to identify improvements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe toolroom environment in line with 5S practices. Assist with knife sharpening, fixture repairs, and other support tasks for manufacturing equipment. Qualifications and Must-Haves
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a machine shop environment (milling, EDM, lathes, grinding). Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with Class 101 mold maintenance. Ability to read blueprints and follow detailed work instructions. Skilled with micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools. Experience with hot runner manifolds, electrical testing, and rewiring heaters or thermocouples preferred. CNC EDM setup and operation experience a plus. High school diploma or equivalent required. Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, and standing for long periods.
