Medstar Health is excited to invite a passionate and experienced Behavioral Health Care Specialist to our team! We are looking for a licensed social worker or professional counselor who can deliver therapeutic interventions, conduct thorough assessments, and make independent clinical decisions with confidence.
This role involves providing essential assessment, evaluation, and coordination for patients presenting to the Emergency Department with psychiatric concerns. You will play a crucial part in processing admissions to our inpatient psychiatric units.

Primary Responsibilities:
Complete all relevant documentation according to established standards, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
Facilitate admissions and coordinate services within Behavioral Health Services and associated programs.
Manage referrals to both internal and external resources as appropriate, ensuring comprehensive documentation to substantiate levels of care and handle insurance authorizations.
Work collaboratively with inpatient units at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, MedStar Harbor Hospital, MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, and MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital to coordinate admissions and communicate effectively with other hospitals and outpatient resources.
Act as a liaison to coordinate admissions with referral sources, outside agencies, and third-party payors, while maintaining confidentiality.
Participate in managing aggressive patients ensuring safety for all; recognize warning signs and intervene appropriately.
Provide clinical assessments, evaluations, and disposition for patients in need of behavioral health services, educating patients and families about available resources.
Communicate effectively with treating physicians, nurses, and community resources to ensure optimal patient care, providing timely documentation and ongoing assessments.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
Licensure as a Certified Social Worker - Clinical (LCSW-C), Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or Ph.D.
1-2 years of experience in assessing and administering care for behavioral health disorders.
This position offers a competitive salary range of USD $61,838.00 - USD $101,150.00 per year.
