Job Title: Fiber Technician
Job Description
As a Fiber Technician, you will be responsible for splicing various types and sizes of fiber optic cables, including single-mode, multimode, stranded, and ribbon. You will analyze and troubleshoot basic technical issues while reviewing, interpreting, and working with maps, drawings, blueprints, and testing documents. Daily tests, checks, and maintenance on splicing and testing equipment are essential duties, along with conducting optical continuity and conformance testing. You will also make splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in various work locations, including buried, underground, aerial, and building sites.
Responsibilities
Splice various types and sizes of fiber optic cable, including single-mode, multimode, stranded, and ribbon.
Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical issues.
Review, interpret, and work with maps, drawings, blueprints, and testing documents.
Perform daily tests, checks, and maintenance on splicing and testing equipment.
Conduct optical continuity and conformance testing.
Make splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial, and building work locations.
Essential Skills
Experience in construction, assembly, splicing, wiring, cable, and electrical work.
Proficiency with single mode, multimode, stranded, and ribbon fiber optic cables.
Ability to perform OTDR & Power Meter Testing.
Skill in reading blueprints and schematics.
Experience with terminations, hand tools, optic work, general labor, and telecommunications.
Expertise in fiber optic installation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Background in telecom, underground, and splicing construction.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
