summary of position

The Stockroom Lead coordinates activities of employees concerned with receiving, stocking, inventory, kitting and shipping materials, and issuing of supplies, tools, equipment and parts in the stockroom and warehouse.

Essential functions

Lead by example by committing to safe work practices, coach and correct unsafe behaviors, correct safety hazards and respond to employee concerns regarding hazards in their work area. Understand company obligations under the OSHA Act and comply with OSHA CFR 1910 regulations. Read, understand and enforce company policies. Communicate company expectations to department employees. Provide feedback to employees regarding company policies as needed and keep supervisor informed of employee policy issues. Report injuries to EHS manager timely. Work with EHS manager in correcting hazards, coordinating time off following work injuries and offer transitional duty to employees with work restrictions. Assisting supervisor in hiring by participating in interviews and advising in candidate selection. Assist supervisor in performance management by providing ongoing feedback in the form of coaching/correct to employees, communicating department goals, notifying supervisor of performance issues within the team, and participating in annual performance reviews. Assist supervisor in coordinating training programs for new hires and ensuring new employees receive training, resources and feedback needed to become valuable members of the team. Attend leadership and safety training as required. Serves as the "go-to" person for most day-to-day business. Coach, train, mentor, and informally counsel, as well as provide on-going feedback to coworkers to optimize job performance. Make recommendations and give feedback on various operational matters, including input on employee performance reviews. Help facilitate informal resolution of issues in their areas, such as, conflicts or disagreements with/between coworkers. Oversee the work of stockroom employees to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines and proper procedures, correcting errors or problems. Prepare and issue work schedules, deadlines and duty assignments for stockroom/materials employees. Participate in the work of subordinates to facilitate productivity or to overcome difficult aspects of work. Maintain inventory of stock items in stockroom, tool room and various storage location plant side. Order parts that fall below minimum requirement. Confer and correspond with establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications. Prepare, maintain and distribute various documents, such as receiving reports, shortage reports, and expediting reports. Compute amounts, such as space available, and shipping and storage charges using calculator or price list. Examine contents and compare with records, such as shipping tickets, invoices, or purchase orders, to verify accuracy of incoming or outgoing shipment. Ensure BOM's are accurate by communicating with BOM Editors. Record shipment data and maintain documentation, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes. Unload trucks and deliver or route materials to departments, using forklifts, conveyors, dollies, or bins. Pack, seal, label, and affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using work devices such as hand tools, power tools, and postage meter. Contact carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials. Provide support to other positions in department. Manage counter service by meeting vendors to receive shipments, maintaining communications with delivery drivers, and issuing parts/tools to production as needed. Communicating issues such as parts shortages and ETA on incoming parts to affected departments including purchasing and production. Attend work as outlined in Employee Handbook and/or specified by your supervisor. Complete other tasks as directed by supervisor. Comply with government regulations, laws, company policies and company procedures.

Desired qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Experience : 3+ years of experience in stockroom, warehouse, or inventory operations

Skills: . Effective oral and written communication skills. Multi-tasking abilities. Must have basic computer skills including the ability to use Microsoft product software (Outlook, Excel & Word). Basic math skills are required.

Certificates, licenses or training:

Supervisor training, OSHA 10 hour certification, forklift license.

Interaction with others

Answers to Stockroom Supervisor. Must be able to accurately receive and understand instructions from supervisor to determine if further instruction is required before attempting to complete the task assigned. In constant communication with other departments (Engineering, production, etc.). It is essential that the employee is able to work with all employees of the RAE team and shows a spirit of cooperation with others in the organization.

working environment

Work is performed in an industrial production area for a manufacturer of refrigeration and HVAC equipment. The employee is constantly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is high in some areas. Exposed to extreme temperatures in both winter and summer. Possible stress caused by the pressure of meeting deadlines and product quality standards. Seasonal variations in hours worked based on production demands.
