Director of Technology
An independent Catholic school for grades 7-12 is seeking an experienced and visionary
Director of Technology
to lead its technology strategy and operations.
The Director will provide leadership and direction for the school's technology team, partnering with administrators, faculty, and staff to align technology resources with the mission and daily operations of the school. This role oversees technology planning, purchasing, and implementation while driving innovation to enhance teaching, learning, and administration. The Director manages two full-time employees and reports to the Head of School.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategic Planning Lead the technology department in planning, training, infrastructure, and innovation. Develop and execute a strategic technology plan aligned with the school's mission and long-term goals. Clearly communicate strategies and initiatives to all stakeholders. Serve on the Administrative Team, contributing to school-wide decision-making. Participate in Academic Department Chair and other leadership meetings. Governance, Policy & Compliance
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations (FERPA, COPPA, CIPA, ADA, etc.). Develop and enforce policies on cybersecurity, data retention, and responsible use. Lead disaster recovery and business continuity planning. Infrastructure & Operations
Oversee the stability, security, and scalability of the school's network, wireless, cloud, and communications systems. Manage planning and lifecycle of classroom technology, conferencing systems, servers, devices, and software. Supervise vendor relationships, contracts, and service-level agreements. Oversee hardware/software inventory and refresh cycles. Support technology needs for events, including occasional evenings and weekends. Instructional Technology & Academic Support
Collaborate with academic leaders to evaluate and integrate tools that enhance teaching and learning. Support faculty in piloting and adopting emerging technologies (AI, AR/VR, adaptive learning tools). Partner with curriculum leaders to embed digital citizenship and responsible technology use into student learning. Provide ongoing professional development for faculty and staff. Cybersecurity & Data Privacy
Conduct security risk assessments and manage incident response. Implement layered defenses and provide security training for the school community. Ensure compliance with data privacy standards and best practices. Department & Team Leadership
Supervise and support technology staff with clear goals, performance reviews, and professional development. Foster a culture of service, collaboration, and responsiveness. Manage the department's operating and capital budgets effectively. Community & Partnerships
Engage with parents, guardians, and students on digital citizenship and online safety. Represent the school in professional networks to stay current on emerging technologies. Develop partnerships to expand the school's technology programs and services. Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field. 5-7 years of technology leadership experience. Proficiency with both Windows and Mac hardware/operating systems. Professional certifications (Microsoft, Google, Cisco, Aruba, or similar). Strong knowledge of networking, wireless, unified communications, mobile, and cloud computing. Preferred
Master's degree from an accredited institution. Experience working in an educational setting. Demonstrated success leading strategic technology initiatives.
