Your expertise in sales forecasting, margin analysis, inventory management, and vendor relations will significantly contribute to our goals while upholding PetSmart's esteemed reputation amongst pet parents. About the Work Environment At PetSmart, collaboration and connection are fundamental to our success. This role requires you to work primarily in our Phoenix Home Office, with an expectation of working in-office a minimum of four days each week. Senior Director of Merchandise Planning and Allocation , you will collaborate closely with the Director of Merchandise Buying to cultivate and execute the overarching strategic vision for the division, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives. In this role, you will oversee the strategic development and execution of merchandise planning, space optimization, assortment planning with localization, lifecycle management to maximize margins, and efficient allocation planning to achieve sales, margin, turnover, and other key performance indicators. Key Responsibilities: Drive achievement of sales, margin, inventory turnover, and other KPIs as set forth in plans. Lead team development, including recruiting and coaching to enhance organizational talent. Craft and maintain overall strategic vision, policies, resources, and execution plans that align with corporate objectives. Oversee the development of merchandise plans and related business metrics. Participate in the strategic and financial planning processes across various vendor and merchandising segments. Direct and enhance the business planning and product creation processes for informed decision-making. Support the VP in presenting at various strategic meetings. Manage inventory across service and in-stock levels while achieving productivity targets to support sales and margin goals. Communicate effectively with vendors to manage demand plans and adjust to market needs. Collaborate with the pricing team to deliver pricing strategies while understanding competitive dynamics. Create and lead initiatives that uncover growth opportunities. Execute division and category marketing plans in partnership with the Marketing Department. Develop promotional plans including ads, planner locations, and layouts. Understand and translate category and consumer dynamics into division strategies. Integrate processes and systems to enhance efficiency and maximize margins. Skills: Develop and nurture exceptional talent through coaching and mentorship. Create and lead effective business strategies from conception to execution. Collaborate across functions to drive key initiatives. Use analytical insights to enhance operational decisions that elevate sales and margins. Possess strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities. Exhibit self-motivation and adeptness in managing multiple priorities. Education: A Bachelor’s degree in business from a recognized institution, along with 10+ years of experience in merchandising planning and/or allocation, or a related combination of education and experience is required. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in spreadsheets, word processing, and decision support software is essential, with experience in SAP, JDA Intactix, and DPR being beneficial.
