JOB TITLE:

Payroll and Benefits Clerk

REPORTS TO:

Chief Academic Officer

DEPARTMENT/CAMPUS:

Finance Department

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Work under moderate supervision to assist with the accurate and timely preparation of payroll and employee benefits according to prescribed procedures and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification: High School diploma or GED Special Knowledge/Skills:

Effective organization, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects Ability to work with numbers in accurate and rapid manner to meet established deadlines Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing Proficiency in keyboarding and file maintenance Experience:

Three to five years bookkeeping/payroll experience preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties :

Receive and audit time sheets for all district employees following established procedures. Enter and maintain data in the district timekeeping system. Process employee banking information, and contact staff and financial institutions as necessary to ensure accurate direct deposits and ACH transfers. Maintain district payroll registers, employee payroll information, and other original documentation in an orderly and accurate manner in accordance with state, federal, and district requirements. Work cooperatively with administrators, principals, directors, human resources department, and staff to process hiring, leave terminations, and other employment-related payroll issues. Assist in conducting benefits orientation meetings and enrollment of new employees in benefit plans. Assist with annual open enrollment process, including preparing, distributing, and receiving materials and forms. Assist with benefits-related data entry, data verification, and preparation of reports. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, and other documents as required including auditable records. Display tolerance necessary for accepting supervision for and criticism of job performance. Work in harmony with supervisory, faculty, and peer personnel. Use professional information discreetly and judiciously. Support and follow administrative and Board policy. Represent the school system to the community in a positive, professional way. Maintain a sincere, friendly attitude toward patrons. Perform other duties as assigned by Chief Financial Officer. Supervisory Responsibilities:
