The Mobile App & Middleware Development Manager is responsible for leading the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-grade mobile applications and middleware platforms. This role oversees teams that build engaging, secure, and scalable mobile experiences, as well as the backend APIs, integrations, and middleware services that support them. The manager partners closely with Product, UX, QA, Infrastructure, and Business stakeholders to ensure seamless end-to-end delivery of mobile solutions.

This position is responsible for the planning of resources and project planning for software engineering projects within the line of business they are assigned. The manager will plan and track these projects to ensure they are completed on time with quality and done in accordance with the Software engineering's community of practice, tools, methodologies, and processes. He or she will be responsible for estimating and coordinating technical effort based on product requirements and then adhering to those estimates. This position is responsible for the recruiting, onboarding, retaining, scheduling and direct supervision of Mobile app engineers, Middleware engineers and Web developers

Job Responsibilities

Mobile App Development

Lead and manage iOS, Android, and/or cross-platform development teams. Define mobile architecture, coding standards, and best practices. Oversee design and delivery of mobile apps with a focus on performance, usability, and security. Ensure mobile teams adopt modern frameworks (Swift, Kotlin) and testing practices. Collaborate with UX/UI designers to ensure intuitive user experiences. Middleware Development

Oversee design, development, and maintenance of middleware services, APIs, and integrations. Ensure scalability, reliability, and security of backend services powering mobile apps. Drive API-first design principles and consistent service documentation. Partner with Enterprise Architects and backend teams to align with system-wide standards. Implement CI/CD pipelines, API versioning, and monitoring solutions. Leadership & Management

Manage, mentor, and grow high-performing mobile and middleware engineering teams. Align team execution with business priorities, product roadmaps, and delivery timelines. Enforce development processes, agile practices, and release management workflows. Build strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring transparency and effective communication. Drive adoption of new technologies, frameworks, and practices to improve delivery. Job Requirements:

Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). 7+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years leading mobile and/or middleware teams. Hands-on expertise with at least one mobile platform (iOS - Swift/Objective-C, Android - Kotlin/Java). Exposure to modern web technologies (JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Angular, Vue, or similar) is a strong plus. Strong experience in middleware/API development (REST, gRPC) with knowledge of .NET, Node.js, or similar technologies. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and microservices architecture. Experience with API gateways, authentication (OAuth2, JWT), and enterprise integrations. Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and DevOps practices. Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Proven ability to balance technical, product, and business priorities. The pay range for this position is $97,700.00 - $184,175.00; base pay offered may vary depending on a number of factors including, but not limited to, the position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience. In addition to base pay, also offered is a comprehensive benefits package and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). This position is eligible for participation in a short-term incentive plan subject to the terms of the applicable plans and policies.
