About the Role Johnson Service Group (JSG) is seeking experienced
Maintenance Mechanics
to join a leading food manufacturing facility. Openings are available on
all three shifts . The Maintenance Mechanic will ensure safe and efficient operation of production and facility equipment by performing installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance tasks.
This role directly supports Production, Quality, and Safety teams, serves as a mentor to operators, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives across the plant. Primary Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, repair, adjust, and replace equipment and components involving
mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, and relay logic systems .
Perform
preventive maintenance
on production and facility equipment.
Communicate equipment breakdowns and repair status to appropriate personnel.
Move, install, and align equipment using proper
lifting, rigging, hoisting, blocking, and rolling
methods.
Work safely and maintain a clean, organized work area.
Assess maintenance issues, determine root causes, and develop timely, effective solutions.
Research, identify, and order parts required for repairs or upgrades.
Accurately document work performed, including time, materials used, and corrective actions.
Read and interpret
equipment manuals, electrical schematics, and mechanical diagrams .
Maintain positive communication and teamwork with Production, Quality, and other support departments.
Report all
food safety and quality issues
immediately to personnel authorized to initiate corrective action.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management. Knowledge and Skill Requirements
High school diploma or GED
required;
associate or technical degree
in maintenance field preferred.
Minimum
5 years of maintenance experience , with at least
2 years in a food processing or manufacturing environment .
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read and interpret
electrical schematics, diagrams, and mechanical drawings .
Proficiency with
bearings, gearboxes, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, valves, variable frequency drives, relays, sensors, and PLCs .
Capable of setting up and operating
shop equipment and portable power tools .
Ability to take accurate measurements and apply basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Willingness to work
overtime and weekends
as needed. Physical & Environmental Requirements
Standing on concrete floors for extended periods.
Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, and lifting up to
50 lbs .
Must wear required
personal protective equipment
(hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, uniform).
Required to work weekends during
peak production seasons . Training Requirements
