Forepaugh's, a historic restaurant outside of downtown St. Paul is seeking a highly sophisticated and personable Host to serve as the first and last point of contact for our discerning clientele. The ideal candidate will possess a deep appreciation for our historic setting and be an integral part of creating a seamless and memorable dining experience. This role requires the grace of a polished concierge, the precision of a matre d', and the calm efficiency of an operational leader. Key Responsibilities

Guest relations and hospitality: Greet every guest with a warm, genuine welcome and a confident, professional demeanor. Anticipate guest needs and accommodate special requests with discretion and impeccable service. Provide informed conversation and insight into the restaurant's unique history and architectural features, adding a personalized narrative to the dining experience. Bring order to the chaos of a busy door during a dinner rush Reservation and seating management: Master our reservation software to manage bookings, track VIP guests, and log special preferences. Strategically manage the flow of the dining room and seat guests with a polished pace that ensures an even workload for the service team. Communicate accurate wait times gracefully and manage expectations for both walk-in guests and reservations. Operational support: Answer phone calls with exceptional etiquette, handling reservations and guest inquiries professionally. Conduct opening and closing duties, ensuring the entryway, host stand, and surrounding areas are pristine and organized. Coordinate with the entire front-of-house and kitchen team to ensure timely and effective service delivery. Brand ambassadorship: Adhere to a strict professional dress code and maintain impeccable personal grooming standards. Be a resource for guests, with thorough knowledge of our food and wine menu, daily specials, and the overall restaurant concept. Resolve any guest concerns with grace, diplomacy, and discretion, involving management when necessary. Qualifications: Proven experience as a host in a high-end, fine-dining, or luxury hospitality setting is preferred. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both in person and over the phone. An organized and detail-oriented approach with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure. A polished and professional personal presentation that aligns with the restaurant's elegant brand. Working knowledge of restaurant reservation systems and POS software. Must be able to stand for extended periods and move through the restaurant with ease. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
