Job summary:

The Controller will lead all day-to-day finance operations and supervise a team of accounting specialists. This position includes functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and grants administration. The Controller will ensure that the agency has the systems and procedures in place to support programs and audit success. This position performs a variety of accounting duties according to established policies and procedures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Requirements:

Accounting degree or equivalent work experience

Five (5) years' experience in accounting functions and payroll

Strong QuickBooks skills including normal accounting transactions, GL Management, classification budgeting, and reporting Experience supervising a team of finance professionals Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Applications Ability to pass a drug screening and State of Alaska background check Preferred:

Experience in nonprofit and behavioral health Skills required:

Solid understanding of bookkeeping, accounting and GAAP Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records Able to:

Stay current with payroll and pertinent regulations Maintain confidentiality and treat everyone with dignity and respect

High degree of accuracy and attention to detail Be a team player, demonstrate motivation and exercise discretion and dependability Job responsibilities:

Supervise a team of accounting specialists including but not limited to:

Clarify roles and responsibilities Develop and implement training to reach individual and organizational goals

Provide leadership that strengthens internal communications with staff throughout the organization Create and promote a positive and supportive work environment Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements Maintain grant accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets through the grant/fund period: collate financial reporting materials for government, state, and foundation grants Collaborate with Grants Manager with grant accounting and documentation Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures Monitor financial progress and keep CFO informed of agencies' financial status Prepare journal entries as needed for general ledger accuracy Maintain Accounting procedures and policies and systems of internal controls to ensure the integrity of all financials systems Support CFO in Annual Financial Audit
