Job Title: MRI Technologist Profession: Clinical Professional Specialty: Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Thursday/Friday 9:30 AM - 11:00 PM | Saturday 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM Experience: Zero (0) to six (6) months of related experience License: Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT-R) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) Certifications: BLS Must-Have: 5 years of related experience; Epic; GE Equipment Description: Operates magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment to produce cross-sectional images of the patient body for diagnostic purposes. Performs MRI examinations according to department policy and protocols. Prepares and positions patients for MRI procedures of various parts of the body. Involves setting up equipment and positioning patients to provide optimal demonstration of the body part under study. Performs Quality Control tests on department equipment, reporting any discrepancies to the appropriate personnel. Collects and evaluates relevant examination information from scheduling, patient, and referring physician, including screening information. Maintains departmental records and patient information according to policy. Responds to patient physical and psychological needs. Keeps patients informed about their procedures. Explains all procedures in a clear and concise manner without causing unnecessary anxiety. Listens to and answers patient questions with patience and courtesy. Performs safety procedures for outpatients, inpatients, patient families, and hospital staff. Screens patients and personnel for any metal objects or implants that could cause harm to the patient or equipment. Ensures that no patient, visitor, or healthcare worker enters scan room with metal objects or contraindicated implants. Evaluates results of scanning procedures for quality and completeness. Manipulates images using console keyboard and mouse to display to physician. Can select all image display options using terminal. Recognizes problems and rectifies them concerning selections made during operations. Sends images to the PACS system, evaluates the exam for completeness, and verifies exams in a timely manner. Develops a working knowledge of all PACS capabilities. Maintains accurate documentation on logbook worksheet and charging of examinations and supplies. Seeks advice from the appropriate resource when unsure of protocol or policy. Exercises independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field. Works directly with patients and customers. Interacts with internal customers via telephone or face-to-face. Communicates with external customers via telephone or face-to-face. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals and staff.
