Position Summary:
The Aviation Hydraulic Repair & Overhaul Specialist is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and overhauling a wide range of aircraft hydraulic components and systems in accordance with FAA, EASA, and company standards. This position requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of hydraulic systems used in both commercial and military aviation applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and reassembly of aircraft hydraulic components (actuators, pumps, valves, servos, accumulators, etc.)
Troubleshoot and diagnose hydraulic component malfunctions using test stands, gauges, and specialized diagnostic equipment
Conduct functional and pressure testing to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and airworthiness standards
Interpret technical manuals, component maintenance manuals (CMMs), engineering drawings, and service bulletins
Maintain accurate repair documentation, work orders, and inspection records in accordance with FAA Part 145 repair station requirements
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety, quality, and regulatory compliance procedures
Identify and recommend process improvements for efficiency, quality, and cost reduction
Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Engineering teams on technical issues or non-conformances
Operate hydraulic test stands and related shop equipment safely and effectively
Maintain a clean, organized, and tool-controlled work environment
Qualifications:
Required
High school diploma or GED
3+ years of experience in aircraft hydraulic component repair or overhaul (civil or military aviation)
Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of hydraulic systems, schematics, and pressure testing principles
Ability to read and interpret technical documentation (CMMs, IPCs, blueprints, and service manuals)
Familiarity with FAA regulations and Part 145 Repair Station procedures
Proficient with standard and precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, pressure gauges, etc.)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate or equivalent training
Prior experience with hydraulic test stands and flow bench operation
Knowledge of electro-hydraulic systems and servo valve repair
Experience working under ISO 9001 / AS9110 / AS9100 quality systems
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Manual dexterity for small parts assembly and precision work
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
Work Environment:
Climate-controlled MRO facility
Exposure to hydraulic fluids, lubricants, and mechanical components
Hands-on technical environment with strict adherence to safety and quality standards
