POSITION SUMMARY
The Branch Manager I provides support, assistance, and leadership in all aspects of branch operations to ensure superior service is delivered to both internal and external customers. This role is responsible for fulfilling the financial needs of each customer promptly, accurately, and courteously, while overseeing the security and maintenance of the branch facility. The Branch Manager leads a high-performing team focused on sales growth, operational excellence, and exceptional customer experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Talent Development
Manage and direct the work of the branch retail staff, including job assignments, performance evaluations, compensation reviews, and training. Make recommendations related to hiring, termination, promotion, or other employment status changes. Coach and guide staff in operational activities to ensure alignment with branch and organizational goals. Conduct team meetings in support of overall strategy and communication. Administer corrective action when needed and recommend disciplinary steps, including terminations. Assign duties based on skill and experience to optimize team performance. Promote a superior customer service culture through coaching, motivation, and recognition. Identify opportunities for branch improvement and implement solutions to drive performance. Prioritize customer experience through real-time coaching, feedback, and service excellence. Branch Growth & Marketing
Participate in branch marketing efforts, interdepartmental meetings, and budgeting discussions. Represent the Bank in community events to increase visibility and generate business opportunities. Achieve individual and branch sales goals through business development, referrals, and relationship retention. Proactively grow both deposit and loan portfolios. Oversee all aspects of branch functions, including compliance with sales and service expectations. New Accounts & Lending
Maintain proficiency in the opening process for all deposit accounts including checking, savings, money market, and business accounts. Demonstrate expertise in consumer loans, CDs, IRAs, and HSAs, including account setup, renewal, closing, and accurate fee calculations. Assist customers with account inquiries and perform account maintenance (e.g., personal information updates, address changes, account closures). Demonstrate thorough understanding of account screening methods and regulatory compliance. Resolve customer complaints and service issues promptly and professionally. Retail Operations
Conduct periodic unannounced audits on teller drawers, vaults, and ATM cash. Maintain accurate records and manage cash shipments from the Federal Reserve under dual control. Use and maintain proficiency in all customer-facing systems and tools (e.g., check ordering, debit card maintenance, identity verification). Support branch staff in operational duties such as drawer balancing and end-of-day processes. Assist with branch opening/closing and provide Saturday coverage as needed. Ensure daily operations meet bank objectives in the areas of operations, lending, sales, security, and customer service. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBLITIES
