Job Description
FamilySearch International, the largest genealogy organization in the world, is looking for one full-time intern. These individuals will be involved in designing, planning, supporting, and carrying out experiences at RootsTech, in both the online and in-person aspects of the conference and supporting other FamilySearch events. RootsTech is an annual genealogy conference that hosts millions of people online in over 11 languages. The event is enhanced by in-person experience, at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The internship will last six months from the date of hire, and responsibilities will center around delivering our online program, including content management, support for content in more than 20 languages while working alongside the full RootsTech team for the creative planning and delivery of the event.
Event team members must have high energy and strong personal commitment to meeting deadlines, serving the audience first, and delivering with the highest levels of personal integrity. Event management requires flexibility, problem solving skills, customer service in a high pressure and fast paced environment. Our team works hard and creates a fun and rewarding environment.
Responsibilities
Deliver exceptional service to our attendees, speakers, media team members, and exhibitors via email and in other communications channels. Including creating and maintaining relationships with these groups. Be an active participant on the team, helping team members to refine and deliver inspired original content. Assignments may include writing, editing, feedback gathering, and other communication elements. Write meta-data, descriptions, SEO, and create thumbnails for content that simplifies the user experience. Assist where needed with classes, speakers, exhibitors, and event marketing. Effectively manage, organize and maintain our online content database through the workflow. Kindly collaborate with teams across the department and help execute planned assets. Help develop, publish and manage an event schedule, that runs on-time. Try, learn, pivot -- gather data, measure and analyze; identify key learnings, then try again using inspiration. Learn and maintain our CMS (content management system). Record and document the processes and best practices you acquire to help future interns be successful. Qualifications
Currently enrolled in academic courses or graduated with a bachelor's or post-graduate degree within the last year Must have a desire to be part of a high-functioning team and ready to work hard and achieve high standards Strong sense of personal drive and motivation to produce high-quality experiences for all audiences we serve. Refined writing and communication skills Ability to think creatively and approach experiences with fresh perspectives and ingenuity High energy, commitment to the end goals and those we serve, and willingness to celebrate success. A composed demeanor when faced with intense pressure leading up to and during a live event Must be self-motivated with a high level of integrity Preference given to multilingual candidates or those with international experience. Excellent project management and time management skills Ability to communicate, influence and lead effectively at all levels of the organization Must be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and hold a current temple recommend.
